BIOGRAPHY

 Steve Reich’s “Electric Counterpoint” and Colombian Folksmusic for Guitar are among his current projects.

David Sánchez was born in 1987 in Colombia. From 2003­-2009 he studied in the Javeriana University of Bogotá where he obtained his Bachelor Degree. During this time he was awarded the I.S.S Scholarship for his Bachelor studies. While  a student at the Javeriana University David played concerts in the Luis Angel Arango Library, the most prestigious Concert Hall in Colombia.
In 2009 David moved to Germany to study at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy under the direction of Prof. Hubert Käppel where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in performance. He was then awarded the Colfuturo Scholarship to pursue a Master of Music Degree under the direction of Roberto Aussel at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.

David’s debut CD of the first volume of the original manuscript works of the Mexican composer Manuel María Ponce was released at the end of 2012.
In 2013 he founded the “Musician`s Colective Köln” an ensemble committed to exploring different musical styles within the classical genre, working through projects. The first project of the Ensemble was devoted to the folk music of Latin America. They have presented this project in numerous festivals across Germany including Kölner Musiknacht, Salon Festival and in the Beethoven Haus Bonn.
In 2013 in Duo with the Flutist Sally Beck David played concerts including the opening of The Dieter Roth exhibition for the Villa Zanders Museum in Bergisch Gladbach and the opening of the Jens Thiele for Köln Art-Werk in Cologne.

In 2013, thanks to the support of the BNC English Academy, they played a concert in Colombia. Thanks to the success of the concert David was invited back for the 2014 season to play a series of solo concerts in Armenia, Buga, Manizelez and Bogotá.

In 2015 David appeared at the Guitar Festival of Armenia as well as performing in Bogotá His latest CD, including works by Steve Reich, will be released at the end of 2015.
Plans for 2016 include an invitation to the second Guitar Festival of Armenia, Manizalez and Pereira, and a new recording with folk music of Colombian composers
